This pho­to­graphic series explores vio­lence by depict­ing con­texts and actions of and within fab­ri­cated por­tray­als. Mahoney uses fam­ily and friends as mod­els and stages fic­ti­tious crime scenes where the posi­tion­ing of the fig­ures reflects imagery asso­ci­ated with domes­tic vio­lence and hor­ror cin­ema. The stage is set spec­tac­u­larly in blues and greens, with blood ooz­ing from the wound­less vic­tims yet here, there are no knives cut­ting or guns fir­ing but rather the provoca­tive use of parody.
